Solo player tips & hints for Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) Night Market Event
any level.
I’m a solo player, but I want the house! You can have the house with little effort and without stepping foot in to the battle-zones of Night market. It’s big and full of furniture so worth having. The locked wings of the house (which are actually just small empty rooms) are what you have to join the fight for. Okay, here are the things that will help you unlock those wings of the house and how to unlock the house.
Here is the short version. Details further down.
1. Accept the quest in the crown store (in the Quest Starters section) – 'Those Who Would Rule'. Follow instructions and then get the base house by choosing a faction. Don’t panic. Any faction will do as they can pretty much do the same as the others but just have a few extra benefits so just pick the one you like. You will be locked in for the rest of the season on all characters though.
2. You can group with absolutely any one. No one can see what faction anyone is with anyway.
3. You can go in any faction door. Stealth is your friend or run fast past trash mobs. Sometimes dying and going to the wayshrine gets you closer to the next target anyway when doing quests.
4. You DON’T NEED TO DO THE DUNGEONS OR TRIAL TO UNLOCK THE HOUSE WINGS…phew.
5. You will need to do all bosses once for their specific splinters - Brazen, Argents, Skirmish, in each faction. One splinter is from trash mobs (one in each section) so loot if you see one, one fragment is in the quest gold boxes (look for blue markers in the town square) and one you buy from your factions merchant. Now, we’ve created a free handy dandy list you can check off to make sure you have all the pieces you need for the house. Download here. Make sure you consume the splinter found under – Inventory- Slottable Items -Trophies.
6. Each completed wing also comes with a memento – Activate to use. Windglass - allows you to go through dust walls, Gauntlet - allows use of grappling hook – Gleaming Lamp – allows you to walk through poison areas
Now here is the stuff about grouping or not for solo players…
BUT I DON’T WANT TO GROUP. (Tips for “not grouping” further down). I get you, neither do we but we did and it wasn’t so bad, we even ended up hosting some groups. Seriously don’t worry too much, you can check under Activity Finder, Group Finder, Find Group, Event Zone (press X to refresh). You’ll find others looking for a group of 12 to take down some specific boss or general boss hunting, these are probably all solo players all in the same boat. Those mega-players in Vet Trials and Vet Dungeon groups are all playing together so probably aren’t the ones looking for groups.
Unfortunately, if you don’t group you will probably find yourself in an empty space because of the player limit ESO have put in place.
How to be in a group without being in a group.
Find a group in the group finder. Join, often they are auto join so you are automatically in. Now you go to the same instance as them then you can either continue to find and play with the group or leave the group. But now you will be in the same instance as the formed group and will most likely find them killing major bosses and you can tag along that way. From our experience, groups fill really quickly, people drop out, more drop in. No one keeps tabs or cares if you jump out of group before the fighting starts. In some cases it’s better because there will end up being 12 players plus you and your companion if you have them.
Someone said “Solo players should just Get Good”……do we though. As a solo player, we are built to survive on our own, kill on our own and defend on our own. Get 12 of them in a group and we are a force. I was in one group where one person said in chat “No tank, I’m out” and they left while we all took down a 26 million Argent in no time, we even went on to do several more bosses. The only time you will need a really good group is the skirmish event in each area. These are punishing especially when the roaming boss decided to show up. There are many mechanics, mass damage and just plain chaotic. Who likes these, dunno, but if you want the house wings you’ll have to do each one….only once though. We went to Parch with a group of 12, we all died, reset 4 times. One of us dropped the group and listed a second group so we had 24 people…..we still all wiped then the skirmish timed out so as we all stood there feeling defeated, the team leader shouted….”lets get eaten by the Dune boss”….so we did. There was about 20 of us inside the Dune boss and we took it down with no deaths and had a good laugh resulting in a lot of goodies. We then all barrelled on as a group to a few more bosses before we were exhausted. If you don’t like the group, just say “Thanks, Got to go” and leave the group. No problem. Often others will leave as well, they are just waiting for someone to go first….lol.
Make sure you consume the splinters, Slottable Items under Trophies. Mark them off the free handy dandy list so you don’t end up doing again if you don’t want to. Most are pretty easy with a large group. Check for the resporn point as that is sometimes the quickest way to get back into the fight. We have found that in some hard to get to areas, people are kind enough to resurrect each other, often paying it forward, but don’t risk your self if the area isn’t safe. Someone stronger will most likely come along.
