Game Review: Firewatch

NO SPOILERS - Made by Panic & Campo Santo, played on Xbox via Gamepass

This was a very interesting game.   Not what I expected at all.   I didn’t look at any reviews or info on the game before playing and I think for me, it made the journey more interesting.  This is not about just putting out fires.  There are several different story-lines unfolding as you play.   You play as Henry, making choices and actions while in communication with Delilah, a supervisor located on another tower.  Communication is only via walkie talkies.

There were times I was a bit lost and some of the paths were hard to navigate.  Overall the story-lines are interesting and without giving away too much, the ending felt a little disappointing but I don’t regret playing.   The adventure was enjoyable and I found myself saying WTF a few times as the story took an unusual turn.  There was enough going on to make me keep playing until the end.

I don’t know how making different choices would affect the outcome and I don’t think it’s a game you would play more than once.
It’s for a more mature audience with the topics, language and outcomes.
If you like a bit of a cryptic game where you don’t know what’s going on and there is a mystery for you to solve then Firewatch might be worth a look.
