Game Review: Road 96

NO SPOILERS - Made by DigixArt, played on XBOX via Gamepass

๐Ÿš— Road 96 – A Road Trip With… Politics? ๐ŸŽฎ

Here at Cryptic Art Matrix, we love a good game—whether it’s whipping through tombs in Indiana Jones, wrangling dinosaurs in Ark, or chasing Daedra in Elder Scrolls Online. But sometimes, we just want a game we can actually finish in a couple of hours.

Enter Road 96— You play as a teenager trying to escape across the border, making tough choices along the way. Steal a car? Hitchhike? Get arrested? Every decision shapes the story, and if you fail? You just start as another runaway while the world keeps changing.

I played about 9 runs before reaching the end of the timeline. While you control a different teen each time, from a different starting point, the world keeps progressing until Election Day. Once Election Day arrives, the game resets—but while some events repeat, your choices can still change the outcome. There’s no combat, a few light mini-games, and a heavy political story-line—so if you prefer your road trips a little more explosive, this might not be your thing.

๐Ÿค” Who’s It For?

Honestly? I have no idea. The story can get pretty dark at times, with some mature themes and colorful language, but then other parts feel like they’re meant for a younger audience. It’s a weird mix.

๐Ÿš€ Final Verdict

Worth playing? Yeah, if you’re looking for something different that’s more about story than action.
Would I replay it? Maybe not—too many other games in the backlog! But it was an enjoyable ride while it lasted.
